The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly…

Okay, so if you’ve been reading my Facebook page, you know that I’m not happy with Carnival Cruise Lines right now and that our recent excursion on their ship for a week did not leave us with the warm, fuzzy feeling we were hoping for…To be fair, I decided to wait a couple of days and not let my anger taint anything that I write about them. I realize this is a blog and that I’m more than entitled to my opinion (and so are you) but I didn’t want to just vent for venting sake AND I wanted to tell the truth, something anger has been known to cloud before. That being said, here is a quick synopsis:
Saturday – we go through the boarding process and are met by…no one to show us where our room might be or the elevators or anything else. Luckily, Debbie had memorized the ship map in her excitement for cruising and we found our room quickly. There are 2 messages on the phone asking us to confirm our Monday Spa Appointments. I call the spa to confirm and the young lady is having issues finding our appointments (I’m calling back to confirm remember). After playing 20 questions with me, she tells us to show up Monday at 8:45 for both appointments (we’re happy to oblige). No further events…

Easter Sunday @ Nassau – We attend Mass at a beautiful church on the island and then a run on the ship (Debbie has become a much better runner since October and kicks my butt three different ways). We head down to the gym/spa to take in a ‘Flatter Abs’ class and find out it is actually an advertisement for ‘Detoxification’ with some health tips thrown in. Being gullible, I sign us up for a Body Composition Analysis and me for a Detox Body Wrap on Monday around noon. We head into the spa for some Steam Room and a shower. Debbie spends 5 minutes in the steam room, decides it’s set too hot and steps out. Her shoes, socks and sunglasses are gone and the rest of her clothes are pushed under the bench they had been sitting on. There is an employee standing there folding towels who had been there when Debbie entered the steam room, she saw nothing and begins to walk away when Debbie starts asking further questions. Debbie finally comes out and we talk to the young lady at the front desk telling her that Debbie’s stuff has been stolen. “Let me have your room number”, she says, “and we’ll call you if we find them”. No looking, no security, no recommendations at all. Big damper on the cruise. We spend a good amount of time looking around for the shoes, including watching the feet of women on the ship to see if they have them on. Debbie also walks around with her iPod because the shoes have her Nike+ sensor in them and the iPod will connect to it if they are relatively close. No running shoes and no sunglasses, bummer!

Monday – We head down to the spa after breakfast to get our originally scheduled spa treatments. The young lady at the counter looks us dead in the face and says “Your appointments were for yesterday morning, I tried to call all morning long and you never answered so you missed them”. Rage! We explain how we have the printout showing the appointments are for Monday morning, how we called Saturday and confirmed with the young lady that the appointments were for Monday morning. How she changed them to be at the same time for us. Blank stares. “We can reschedule you for some other time but you missed your appointments and there’s nothing else we can do”. No, you’re right, there’s nothing else you can do. Refund our money, we don’t want the appointments now. We need a sedative not a manicure! “Sorry, you booked your appointments online, we can’t credit your money back here, you need to go to guest services.” More rage, we turn to leave and I ask Debbie to wait. I cancel the three other appointments we scheduled yesterday as well, may $350 worth of lost revenue will make an impression but I doubt it. We make our way down to guest services where the relatively nicer lady listens to our story and then disappears for 10 minutes behind the wall. She finally returns and offers to reschedule our appointments for us! Hello! NO! Money, now! “Well, we can only offer you a ships’ credit since this was booked through the website” she says. Fine, we’ll spend at least that much on board so we take the credit ($135). She says the credit should show up tomorrow morning. Today is a day at sea so we spend a little time by the pool but Debbie begins to draft a letter to the Cruise Director “Butch” telling him of our travails.

Tuesday @ St. Thomas – I help with the letter (2 pages) and we turn it in after a short jaunt into St. Thomas. The islands are beautiful but it’s all about buying high-end jewelry or low-end t-shirts and we’re not interested in either. We spend a pleasant day on the ship with one exception. $45 had been credited to our account and we couldn’t tell why. Debbie calls guest services to inquire and she’s told that they’ll only credit her appointment, not mine because I had received my services! Within about 3 minutes, the lady neither knew or cared whether I received my services, she just wanted to make sure I got my $90 credit (Debbie was great). Our cabin steward “Junior” is pleasant but the only people who make us feel like they want us on the ship are the Dining Room Wait Staff. “John” and “Ryan” were very good and by Thursday night John knew all our names (not a great feat except that the kids rarely ate with us at dinner time). At 10 PM, we get a call from Butch letting us know that he has no authority over our situation but that he has scanned in our letter and forwarded it to the appropriate people on board. We thank him for his help and go to bed.

Wednesday @ St. Martin – We go out onto the island to get some beach time (truly a beautiful place) and then head back to the ship. The $90 credit for my appointment is now posted to our account. There’s a message from the Hotel Director asking us to call the service desk and schedule an appointment with him. We call and are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

Thursday – We meet with the Hotel Director. There is a slight language barrier but the gist of the conversation is that Carnival does not treat their guests this way and they are truly sorry. They are willing to reschedule the spa appointments for free but we turn that down just on principle (okay, we’re stubborn too). The Hotel Director confirms that every conversation we’ve had with the spa, including the phone call Saturday confirming our appointments, had been handled by the same employee “Mia” and that they plan to discuss this behavior with her extensively. We left feeling placated but not really satisfied though I honestly could not tell you what could have satisfied us. At dinner, a lady we had not seen before comes by to offer us any beverages we would like ‘on the house’. Unfortunately, we’d been in the sun and drinking all day long and really just wanted water. She brought two large bottles of water to our table and asked the waiter to ensure we get what we wanted drink-wise. When we returned to our room we found that two Carnival backpacks filled with goody’s have been left on our bed. Obviously, they’re trying their very best to make good on our cruise and they almost succeeded…almost.

Friday – Second day at sea and very pleasant except for the 7-10 foot swells that are rocking the boat something fierce. They started yesterday afternoon and will continue until we reach port tomorrow. A new credit for $140 appears on our account. They have credited Debbie for the cost of her shoes and her sunglasses. We’re both impressed with the measures they’ve gone to to ensure that we feel compensated for our loss and we do. They have honestly done everything we could have hoped for and more to ensure that we’re happy with the cruise. Again, they almost succeeded…

So what’s the deal, you ask? Well, honestly I’ll tell you that Carnival never stood a chance of making us happy on this cruise. If Debbie’s shoes had never been stolen, if we’d gotten our spa appointments and the weather had been absolutely perfect the whole trip, Carnival would not have had a repeat customer. The reason is that we’ve been spoiled. The only cruises we have to compare this one with are Disney Cruises. What we didn’t realize is that Carnival is an entry level cruise. The cost is less, that’s true. If you’ve never cruised before, you won’t see anything wrong and you’ll probably love it; even if your shoes are stolen. But let me explain something. On Disney (and other upper echelon cruises), your staff know your name before you get on the ship. Once they put a face to a name, they will call you by name for the rest of the cruise, normally from day 1. If a person on the cruise leaves a dish beneath the stairwell, an employee will find it and remove it before the next person passes. The ship is immaculate. Everyone, not just the people who get tips at the end of the cruise, EVERYONE wants you to feel like you are the most important person on the cruise. The Captain of the Disney Magic thanked us personally for trusting our family to his care and then stopped to take a picture with Debbie and I later in the cruise. Becka had a handstand contest with the cruise director from our last cruise and when she won, he announced it far and wide. And he acknowledged her by name for the rest of the cruise. That’s service! Yes, we paid for it but Debbie and I both agree that if we had it to do over again, we’d pay the extra money and take the Disney Cruise. And I’ll tell you one other thing, we spoke to many people on this cruise and the majority of the ones who had cruised other lines said the same thing we did. That this cruise wasn’t terrible but given the opportunity, they’d cruise the higher priced lines instead.

Final verdict? Based on our experience, pay the extra money and get pampered. If money is an issue and you’ve never cruised before, you’ll like Carnival and have a great time (but keep an eye on your shoes)!

I need my wife…

It’s not bad enough that I had to drive halfway across America to start my new job. It’s not bad enough that I have to live in a cigar case for the next 5 months. No, no, no!!!! I had to arrive in San Antonio, Texas in the middle of the worst bout of ‘cedar fever’ in recent memory (theirs, not mine).

For the uninitiated, central Texas was not peopled with Mexicans originally. In one of the most logical things in America, it was peopled with Germans! Germans are wonderful, hardy folk who love the land and cook better than most. Anyway, it seems when the Germans arrived here, there was a large erosion problem in the foothills that surround San Antonio so they did what all great land-lovers do, they planted trees to stop the erosion. Cedar trees to be exact, beautiful, aromatic and well, full of more pollen than any beehive could ever use. So twice a year (in the Spring and Fall for you northerners, we call it Early-Summer and Late-Summer here) these trees produce and release all of their pollen and cause about 85% of the population to come down with ‘cedar fever’.

I had not really felt that bad until Sunday afternoon. By the time I got home, I had a sinus headache that made me want to stick an icepick in my ear to relieve the pressure. It was horrible! Have you ever had that pressure in your head when your heartbeat hurts? I’m telling you it was nasty. No sleep for one night. Monday, I doubled up on my allergy medicine hoping that it would help the problem but about midday I could feel a fever coming on and I knew I was in for a rough afternoon/night. I took another double-dose of allergy medicine and hit the bed early. When I woke up, it felt like I had slept for days, I just knew I was going to be late for work so I grabbed my watch and it was 11:30 PM. I was so excited because I had only been in bed for about 4 hours so I went back to sleep and had the whole process happen again, this time at 1:30, and then once more at 4! I couldn’t believe it, each time I felt like I had been sleeping for 8 or 10 hours when it had only been 2 or 4. You know what I learned? No matter how long you FEEL like you’ve slept, your body ain’t fooled baby.
sick-man
The next morning, I stopped by the company store for some Tylenol sinus (daytime) and went to my desk. Within an hour I was completely in la la land. Half the time I was literally sleeping at my desk. I had even taken one of those 5-hour energy drinks but I had to ask my boss to check on me every once in a while to make sure I was still breathing. I had these body-aches that were just incredible, I couldn’t flex my hands into fists, I couldn’t stretch without causing massive damage to my upper back area, I had trouble blinking real fast! Luckily, all I had to do was read so it’s not like I was hurting anybody’s project. On the way home, I went to Wal-Mart and brought out the big guns, Nyquil and Dayquil. If anything was going to let me sleep, it was the nighttime sniffling, sneezing, stuffy-head, fever, so you can rest medicine. I took my first dose at 6 PM and prayed that sleep would take me away like Calgon. At about 1:15, I woke up and was hotter than a half-screwed sheep in a pepper patch (I have a good friend from Wales, they know these things there); I mean El Fuego! Not sweating, oh no, the fever can’t be breaking yet, you have much to suffer yet young Padawan! I took another quick dose of Nyquil and crawled (literally) back into bed. Sometime between 1:30 and 5:00, I thought my fever had broken. I woke up drenched without any fever or chills or pain or worries.

I went in to work dosed up with Dayquil and got through the whole day without falling asleep once, took on two projects, and made 3 new friends…But, now I’m home and my fever appears to be coming back and it sort of feels like the drummer for the band in my head is warming up and I don’t have a wife to complain to. You have no idea how hard it is for a man to be sick by himself when he hasn’t been sick by himself for over 18 years! If you have any remedies for ‘cedar fever’ believe me unless it involves removing my entire head, I’m listening! Okay, even if it involves removing my entire head (though I’ll try that one last).

Ain’t as easy as it looks…

Well, I guess you can say I’ve gotten through my first week of semi-bachelorhood. The drive from Virginia went pretty well although the roads in Louisiana pounded the RV something fierce. But I got here to San Antonio just fine and the campground is nice. It’s conveniently located far enough from San Antonio that the city noise is nowhere around but close enough for the commute. Also, I’m about a mile from the small town of Boerne which has all of the amenities that a guy could need. Grocery store, restaurants, gas stations…you know, the basics.

I spent the first 4 days of the week in orientation for my new company. If there was ever a doubt that USAA cares about its employees as well as its members, let me eliminate them from your mind now. It is extremely important to USAA that its employees understand what it means to be in the Armed Forces of the United States and the kind of respect our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen deserve. As a returning employee, I can tell you that the orientation process has evolved and is better than ever.

While we were in training, USAA made an announcement that it would be closing it’s Sacramento and Norfolk facilities. Gen. Robles, the CEO, was very careful to let the employees know that he did not want to lose a single one of them and that they would be entitled (and financially helped) to move to any one of the other USAA campuses if they would like. It was really great for new employees to see how this company treats everyone it does business with.

Anyway, so with training over, I spent the day reading in the office and trying to learn what it is that I will be doing exactly. It is a very exciting job and I can’t wait to get into the nuts and bolts of it. I joined the gym on day one and did something cardio or weight related every day but today. I spent a lot of time texting the wife and kids this morning so I got out of the camper too late to work out. I decided that I would work out after work but uh, well, it was uh, very nice outside and I uh, sort of, uh, left work without working out at all (my Barack Obama extemporaneous speaking impersonation). I do plan to go in tomorrow and work out though so I’ll make up for it there. I haven’t really done anything else since I got here though. I went to Mass last weekend at our old church and saw a bunch of friends and even had lunch with a couple of them.

You know, it truly is amazing how things are always different than you expect them to be. I’m not very good at making friends. I’m sure there are many personality deficiencies that several of you would be willing to point out at this moment however, I’m probably already aware of most of them. Where was I, oh yeah, I just don’t believe how gracious so many people have been to welcome me back. It’s really great to know that so many people remember you fondly and are looking forward to having you back in their lives again. Very humbling for me.

This RV thing is going to get old quick though.
redneck-rv
I’m really going to have to offer this part up. I don’t mind the RV itself so much but a couple of nights ago we had 45-60 MPH gusts for about 6 hours straight and I got no sleep whatsoever because the camper kept shaking. I’d wake up and swear there was a tornado coming from the sound of it. This weekend there is a ‘rally’ at the campground. To me, a ‘rally’ at the RV park means a bunch of campers who are all in town for the same thing. That’s true but in this case, the campers all happen to be Harley Davidson owner’s. Apparently, it’s a HOG rally so there are a couple hundred very loud motorcycles traveling around. Quiet hours start at 10 and I hope these guys obey that rule. I can hear a few of them saying goodnight already so maybe these are not the stereotypical bikers that I normally have in mind.
sturgis-bikers

Anyway, say a prayer for me and my family back home (I’m sure it’s very tough for them also) when you get a chance…Thanks.

A good week so far…

Mrs. Hobbit was gracious enough to give me most of the day Sunday (Mass was Saturday night) to work on a pet project of mine. I love making wooden pens and I have all of the tools necessary in the garage to make them. Unfortunately, I’ve not had enough time recently to do any work at all. About 4 weeks before Debbie returned, I ordered some Olive wood from Jerusalem so that I could make a couple of gifts before I left for Texas. I wound up making 5 pens and 1 pencil (One was a pen/pencil set made out of Purple Heart wood, it is beautiful). Debbie wanted one as a gift for a friend back in Pakistan (I forgot to take a picture of it), I gave one to the Principal at our school and I plan to donate the others to the church/school auction which happens in May.

Then, Monday night (really it was Tuesday morning) it started snowing hard enough here that all of the schools in the local area shut down. Since I work (ahem) at a school, I didn’t have to go to work so I decided to make some gifts for my best good friends. They haven’t seen them yet so I’m not going to post any pictures today (which is also a snow day). I’ll take some though so that after I’ve delivered them, I can post pictures on another boring post about making pens.

As a side note, if there are any men reading this post; spending the entirety of a snow day in the garage making wooden objects for friends, without stopping to clean up the house, shovel the driveway (I’m from South Louisiana, we don’t understand snow), or make the kids pick up their cold, wet clothes from the landing by the front door will land you squarely in the smallest corner of the biggest doghouse you have ever seen. Just a little tip from your uncle Hobbit 8-[

More of an ending than a beginning…

Like many, I watched the inauguration today with great interest. I’ve made no bones about the fact that I didn’t support Senator Obama, was not happy with his win and am not looking forward to the next four years politically. That being said, I thought his speech today was very well done. I expected the hidden/veiled attacks on the previous administration so I was not surprised nor disappointed with some of the statements made. I was impressed with several of the statements, especially those promoting the rights of all American citizens. I only hope that over the next two weeks, the term American citizen can be defined to include unborn citizens as well. During the proceedings though, I was struck by something a friend of mine said. Discussing President Bush, it was mentioned that he was too aggressive in maintaining the war on terror and that his legacy will be forever tarnished by it.

If I didn’t love this person dearly, I might have reacted quite negatively to this type of comment. When President Bush took office, his mandate from the American people was clear; we want a leader with integrity, and we want to feel secure again. Most of the policies on his plate were domestic in nature. He understood there was an immigration crisis, he knew the military needed to be revamped, he knew that big government had invaded too much of our private lives and he set out to correct those things with a 5 year initiative. Then September 11th happened and we all watched as a single man stood in a pulpit and with a single speech put the weight of this entire country on his shoulders. I have never, ever been so proud of any leader, possibly any man, before or since. Later, I watched as all of our elected representatives and congressmen stood on those steps and pledged allegiance to our flag, and sung the National Anthem and swore to get those responsible for attacking our sovereign nation.

Since then, many have stated that they didn’t realize how long and difficult this war was going to be, even though President Bush warned them that there was no end in sight and that it would possibly have no end. Others have been replaced by new politicians who claim that they never supported the war in the first place and that they never would have stood on those steps if they had been in office at the time. Finally, we have those who have just ‘changed their mind’; saying they don’t think fighting this war is the right thing to do anymore. The press has been no better. They supported the war while their ratings were up but it soon became apparent that the only way to get the ratings they wanted was to be controversial. Controversial meant attacking every move President Bush made, broadcasting troop locations and movements and then publicly questioning why things were going so badly (their definition, not the military’s and not the Commander In Chief’s).

Behind all of this, one person remained firm. One person stuck to his guns. One person was John Wayne, frightened to death but getting in that saddle anyway. One person was resolute. One person was a leader. Damned be the press, damned be his approval rating, and damned be his critics. They did not know what he knew, they did not swear an oath, they did not promise the American people, he did and he stood by that promise through thick and thin.

george-w-bush-picture
God bless you President Bush! I wish you peaceful days ahead with Laura and the girls. I’m two weeks behind you to Texas and good Lord willing, I hope to one day meet you in person and thank you for every single minute of all 8 years of your presidency.

Flip-flop, flip-flop…

Many of you may have noticed that the Hobbit has been extremely distracted as of late. Posts are erratic at best and there is a very good reason for this. The Hobbit has been working on a major change in his family’s life: his migrating west to San Antonio. I’ve had to keep it very secret, in fact we will not even announce it at work until tomorrow! Mrs. Hobbit and I have wanted to return there since we left 5 years ago and have always looked for an opening. We felt that this summer was going to be the best opportunity so I contacted my old boss at USAA to see what the positions looked like for the summer. He notified me that he actually had a position that had been open to the public for a couple of months with no qualified candidates. The problem was that the position needed to be filled quickly (long before the summer). So Mrs. Hobbit and I talked it over and decided that if I got the position, she would be able to be a single parent until the summer (hence the Flip-flop title of this post). It was still scary and awkward because we were truly taking a step on faith. She did not have a job in San Antonio and if the Air Force decided not to move her, or move her somewhere else, we would be getting introduced to the proverbial creek upon which no paddle will hold! We talked that out though and decided that even if her position would be elsewhere, the chance to get back with USAA and prepare for her ultimate retirement just couldn’t be passed. Of course, we prayed constantly for God to make this work out for us and to make it the best thing for our family. This past week, we received notice that in fact, Mrs. Hobbit will move Randolph AFB in Schertz, TX by the end of June 2009. We could not be more excited!

texas-with-texas-flag

So, if everything goes according to the current plan, the Hobbit will be packing up the RV on February 5th and migrating to San Antonio to begin work on February 9th. I’ll live in the RV for 5 months and as soon as school gets out here in Northern Virginia, the rest of the clan will follow suit. At some point closer to June, we will purchase a house which will, hopefully, be our final resting place for 10-15 years until our complete and udder (yes, I know this is the wrong spelling, get over it) retirement in South Louisiana on the same property which my parents and siblings currently reside. Doesn’t that sound just like a Hallmark card?

There are no plans to discontinue the Hobbit blog, in fact, with the family having to read more about me than to experience me first-hand, I may have to blog more often; though Skype will once again be a very good friend to us!

So, now you have the complete tale and I hope that you all will join me in a prayer of thanksgiving and praise for answered prayers!

Stay tuned tomorrow for my first blog in the post-apocalyptic era code-named Obamanation. Only 1461 days until the next President!

Oooohhhh, I’m in trouble now…

I never really believed that more than three people ever read my blog and after not having posted for two weeks, I was certain that I had lost those three as well. Imagine my surprise to see how much trouble I was in at school after my last post. Several people wanted to know who the person was that I pointed to; a couple wanted to give me the ‘what-for’ for having the gumption to publish that post; and a couple more wanted to tell me, alternately, that I was a terrible or okay writer. I was floored, in fact several people were offended by the look on my face or my response because I was totally caught off guard! Oh well, just goes to show that you never know.
duh-duh

And just so this post is not without substance, the Hobbit learned something the other day from my best good friend Evelyn and I thought I’d pass it on to you. I was complaining about the onion smell on my fingers from slicing said onions for the wonderful, delicious, incredible chicken and sausage gumbo I made and she looked at me and said, ‘Don’t you have a metal sink?’ ‘Why yes’ I replied with the incredulous look of one who does not quite understand how we made the leap from onions to sink material. Then she told me that as you are washing your hands, you should rub them along the divider between the two sinks. Somehow, your hands, the soap and the metal combine to completely remove the smell! I have not had the opportunity to try this out yet but I am more than excited to give it a go…

Merry Christmas…

I am staying at my parents house for a few days and have very limited access to the world but I just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. The birth of one single child has never been and will never be so celebrated as the birth of this Child. Praise God that Mary had the faith to accept what Gabriel said to her, that Joseph had the faith to accept Gabriel’s message to him and that Joachim and Anna had the sense to accept that Mary was not lying to them.

Our God is with us – Emmanuel!

Huh?…

As I may have mentioned before, my wife gets the Washington Post delivered to our doorstep every day. I have never really questioned her motives I just assumed that she had read Sun Tzu’s Art of War and was keeping her enemies closer. Anyway, for another 20+ days, I’m responsible for picking this piece of filth up out of the driveway, removing the plastic bag and depositing it in the recycle bin. I try my best not to get any of it on me because I have normally just showered and don’t want to have to go through that whole process again…

Anyway, a couple of days ago there was a headline in the middle of the front page that caught my eye talking about the new Dignitas Personae or ‘Dignity of the Person’ instruction document recently released from the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Being on the front page of the Post, I knew this would not be a flattering article for the Church but I thought that I should read through it to see what they had to say. I was slightly surprised in that the article was not completely negative however I was caught off guard by one of the interviewees. This gentleman, Jon O’Brien, is the President of an organization called ‘Catholics for Choice’ and he was allowed to give his 2 cents worth to the article. I just couldn’t stop thinking about the name of his organization. Didn’t Pope John Paul II make it perfectly clear?! Hasn’t Pope Benedict XVI spoken about this subject as much as anything else during his papacy?! Haven’t the US Council of Catholic Bishops produced enough information in the past two years to make any reasonable human being cower at the thought?! YOU CAN NOT BE CATHOLIC AND PRO-CHOICE!! Get over it. If you want the right to murder an unborn fetus; CHOOSE ANOTHER RELIGION! Go somewhere else. We don’t want you and we don’t want to be ‘reformed‘ on this issue.

Anyway, once my blood pressure came down below the point where I was no longer in danger of splattering bodily fluids all over the walls, I started thinking about other oxymoronic organizations that I could start which would allow me to not have to work for a living anymore. I’m just going to set up a business front and ask people to send money for my cause. Then I’ll spend the money any way I want to.

So without further ado; here’s my shortlist of organizations whose ideals would make no sense in the modern world but unsuspecting saps might fall for:

  1. Prostitutes for Puritan Clothing
  2. Politicians for Campaign Finance Reform – Too easy, sorry
  3. Criminals Against the ACLU
  4. Men Against Sex
  5. Teenagers Who Think About Others First
  6. Lead Guitarists Against Porn
  7. Catholics for Widening the Front Pews – I had to pick on us a little
  8. Hobbits (or Dwarfs, or Elfs, or Humans) for the Ethical Treatment of Orcs

And if you happen to BE one of these cafeteria Catholics who thinks it’s okay to be pro-choice, to support gay marriage, or any other of the dozen or so things the Catholic Church says you cannot do and still call yourself a Catholic; I would suggest that you schedule an appointment with your local priest or even the bishop to discuss this subject with him.

God bless you all and have a Merry Christmas.

Congratulations, you really helped…

437,000 petition signers in 168 countries! That is awesome. Read how the C-FAM organizations’ petition to protect the family was presented to the U.N. this week.

In the article, they mention that the petition will remain open with the hope of presenting 1,000,000 signatures to the U.N. General Assembly in the Fall. I say we send this out to everyone we know and get to the million mark ASAP. Here’s the link again…http://www.c-fam.org/publications/id.95/default.asp
